Vietnam Visa News: Policy Changes and Updates 2024

From 15th August 2023, e-visas duration will be increased from 30 days to 90 days, valid for multiple entry to meet the demands of international tourists. This is a new policy approved by the National Assembly of Vietnam to facilitate international visitors to Vietnam.

  • 3 month multiple entry visas will be available from 15 August 2023
  • Effective from 15 August, 2023, regular passport holders of certain countries*¹ will be exempt from visa requirements for Vietnam for 45 days instead of 15 days.
  1. The visa exemption for UK, Spanish, German, French and Italian passports has been renewed to 2025.
  2. There is a proposal for 3 month multiple entry evisa coming in from 15 August. 
  3. No gap between 2 visa-exempt entries anymore, citizens from visa-free countries can now re-enter Vietnam immediately after exiting. 
  4. More countries to be added to the exemption list. 
  5. Exemption period is considered to be prolonged to 45 days instead of 15 days

25 countries that enjoy Vietnam’s visa exemption

Vietnam's new visa policy effective from Aug. 15 extends visa-free stay for 13 countries from 15 to 45 days, while 12 others enjoy 14-90 day exemption.

VISA REQUIRED

Simply apply online for your tourist E-visa, valid up to 90 days. E-visa processing time is 3 working days. You will receive your code by email to print your visa.

  

How to Apply for Vietnam's e-Visa:

Step 1: Prepare the required materials:

  • One 4x6 passport photo in .jpg format with a white background, without glasses
  • One photo in .jpg format of your passport data page
  • Passport valid for at least six months
  • Your temporary address in Vietnam and points of entry and exit
  • Debit or credit card for payment

Step 2: Click this link or access https://immigration.gov.vn and go to 'E-visa Issuance' then click on the link for 'Outside Vietnam foreigners'.

Step 3: Upload your .jpg images (passport data page and passport photo) and fill out the required fields on the form completely. Submit your form.

Step 4: Pay the e-Visa fee. Copy down the document code provided.

Step 5: Within three working days you should receive news of your e-Visa application via email. If not, you can also run a search for your e-Visa at this link.

Step 6: Use your document code to locate your e-Visa online. Download and print the e-Visa in two copies for extra safety.

TIP: Travellers with an e-Visa can go directly to immigration counters at their point of entry and do not need to queue at Visa on Arrival counters.
