Day 1: Hanoi - Overnight Train To Lao Cai / Sapa (N/A)

21:00: Meet our guide at Hanoi train station and boarding the train.
22:00: Train departs for Lao Cai / Sapa and sleep on the night train in a 4 soft sleeper sharing A/C cabin (4 persons in a cabin)
Travel time approx 8 hrs.

Note: If you want to upgrade to the private 2 person cabin on the train, surcharge 60 USD per person for the round trip.

Day 2: Arrive Lao Cai - Visit A Hill Tribe Market - Sapa (B/L)

The train arrives Lao Cai train station around 6am, meet our local guide and driver for the transfer to a local restaruant in Lao Cai town for breakfast and relax for a while.

After breakfast, we will leave the hotel for about 2 hours driving to the hill tribe market. Join in the colorful market of the tribal people in this region. On the fair market the H'mong, Dzao, Phu La people in their best traditional costumes go to the market for shopping and meeting friends and relatives…

Say goodbye to the colorful market and drive to Chay River where you will get on a boat for a river adventure. You are bound to feel great and find yourselves smaller among high Rock Mountains and to be surprised at white and breathtakingly waterfalls while cruising along the river. Get off the boat to visit a village of the Tay Minority (Trung Do village) by the river. After the boat trip, we drive to Sapa town. On arrival, check in hotel and rest. Overnight in Sapa.

Day 3: Sapa – Visit Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai, Ta Van Villages & Silver Waterfalls (B/L)

After breakfast, leave the hotel and take a short car ride to Y Linh Ho village where we start trekking down to Lao Chai village of Black H’mong ethnic people. Here we will discover their daily life and how they make traditional clothes, handicraft, indigo... We will visit the biggest valley which provides the best view for golden rice terrace fields in Vietnam. After Lao Chai, we walk to Ta Van village of Dzay people. It is a small group of ethnic people in Vietnam with a rich culture and beautiful houses located on rice paddy fields.
Early afternoon- Pick you up from Ta Van village to Sapa town have lunch.

Afternoon, the guide takes you to visit The Silver Waterfalls by car. That is 18km away from Sapa – the most beautiful water fall in Sapa.
Overnight in Sapa.

Day 4: Sapa - Visit Cat Cat Villages & Fansipang Peak By Cable Car - Night Train Back To Hanoi (B/L)

Have breafkast at hotel.

Morning: Take a short car ride to Cat Cat village. On arrival, explore Cat Cat, the village of Black H’Mong hill tribe. The village is on the slope of the hill and easy walking, rice and corn are grown here. Cat Cat villagepossesses many imposing waterfalls and also is home to the water hydropower construction built under French rule.
Return to the town at noon. Have lunch at local restaurant before check in hotel.
Afternoon, our guide takes you to Fansipang Cable Car Station and spend 20 minutes with cable car to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
Reach the altitute of 2800 meters, you have a good time to see the view and take photos, visit pagoda the spiritual destinations and trek up to 600 steps you will reach the peak of Fansipan - the Roof of Indochina. (Spend about 1,5 hours for hiking and taking photos).
Come back to Fansipan Cable Car Station and return to Sapa by car

Late afternoon, trasnfer to Lao Cai train station for the night train back to Hanoi. Overnight on the train.

Excellent Tour Operator in All Respects
Ha Do and his Vietasia Travel is an excellent tour operator in every respect.
In November 2017, I made arrangements with Mr. Do for a tour guide and driver to take us on a city tour of Hanoi and then drive us to Sa Pa (aka, Sapa) for a two-night tour of that area. After a wonderful city tour of Hanoi with our guide Thinh, I fell in our hotel room and broke my arm and had to cancel the rest of the trip and fly home. Mr. Do refunded the Sa Pa portion of our package in full without me asking, even though he did not have to.
Finally in April 2019, I was able to return to Vietnam to finish the trip. I re-booked the Sa Pa portion of the trip through Vietasia Travel and Mr. Ha Do. This time our tour guide was Tiep and our driver was Ha. (A different Ha, not the owner of Vietasia Travel.)
I have Multiple Sclerosis, which is why I fell in my hotel room in Hanoi and broke my arm in November 2017. I use a walker in my hotel room, but need a wheelchair when I'm out and about. For both November 2017 & April 2019, Mr. Do supported me in planning my trip through extensive email communications. Both times, we planned the best trip that I could possibly do in a wheelchair. Both times, we had great guides and great drivers.
Our guide Tiep in Sa Pa went the extra miles/kilometers for me, literally. For the tour of Ta Van and Lao Chai villages in Muong Hoa Valley, I was not supposed to be able to do it due to my mobility limitations. I was supposed to wait in the car with the driver for 2 - 3 hours. However, Tiep said he could push me in my wheelchair up and down the hilly road through the villages ... and he did!!
This was by far the highlight of my whole trip (which included Hong Kong, Halong Bay and Macau). I would have missed the core experience of Sa Pa if I had not seen these villages.
I am so indebted to Tiep for muscling me and my wheelchair through the villages. In addition, I wanted to visit the local Buddhist temple and Tiep & Ha took me to that which was not on the itinerary. I am so grateful to Ha Do of Vietasia Travel and Tiep & Ha (the driver) for helping me fully complete my trip to Sa Pa despite my mobility challenges. It is an experience I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life.
