Pick up at your hotel, start this mountain bike tour from Luang Prabang with a short visit to the Wat Pa Phon Phao, a quiet monastery with a wonderful golden stupa. Next stop is Ban Phanom, a well-known cotton and silk hand-weaving village (Lao Lum). We continue on to the grave of Henri Mouhot, the popularized French discoverer of the Angkor Ruins who died here in 1861. After that, follow a country road to the wonderfully picturesque Elephant Village.
After lunch, go on a walking trip from the Adventure camp along an easy single track, traversing rice paddy fields and terraced slopes to peaceful rural villages. In the late afternoon arrive village. Overnight at home stay in Village.
After breakfast continue trekking through breathtaking scenery and have the chance to observe local rural communities as they carry out their daily chores and work. In the late afternoon arrive at the Khamu village and stay overnight. The day includes visits to Khamu, Lao and Hmong villages. Walking time about 5-6 hours in total. Overnight at home stay in Village.
After a wonderful breakfast meet the protected Asian Elephants and learn about these majestic animals. Enjoy a relaxing 30 mins ride on the back of one of these magnificent animals into the countryside. Hang out, have lunch and enjoy the unique scenery in this area of great natural beauty. The afternoon is the last highlight on the tour with a water excursion on the Nam Khan river in a kayak. The river is easy to paddle and offers only a few grade 1-2 rapids.
The countryside during the kayak trip is dense with banana and teak trees, rice paddies and terraced pineapple plantations. Pass handfuls of isolated Lao Loum and Theung thatched roofed villages. After about 3 to 4 hours (depending on river speed and starting point), arrive at Luang Prabang in the late afternoon.
